Dr. Oscar Andres Pappa, a former member of the Prosthodontics Department at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of dentistry in the Department of Care Planning and Restorative Sciences.
After receiving his B.S. in 2004 and D.D.S. with a cum laude distinction in 2008 at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala, his native country, Pappa was a private practitioner in Guatemala City for two years. He then joined the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry as a prosthodontics resident.
One of his research projects involved the evaluation of shear bond strength of lithium disilicate to prosthetic teeth using a resin-based cement, a topic that was formulated in conjunction with Dr. Matthew Milner, a UMMC faculty member.
Pappa earned his certificate in prosthodontics in 2013 and completed an aesthetic dentistry and surgical implant fellowship in 2014, both at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, New Orleans.
